Summer Housing for UMN Students

Summer housing is available to undergraduate students who are enrolled at any of the five University of Minnesota campuses during the current spring, summer, or upcoming fall semesters.

The summer application opens at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16. To access the application, you will need to log into the Housing Portal and click on the link for the Summer 2026 application.

On the application you will need to indicate the exact dates you are requesting to reserve. There is no application fee for summer housing. Summer rent is charged in full to a student's university account upon check-in, based on the dates of occupancy requested on the summer housing application. Refunds will not be issued if a student checks out earlier than the requested dates of occupancy on the application.

All rooms will be considered single occupancy unless two students who wish to share a room write the name of the person they want to live with on their application. Otherwise, we do not do roommate matching.

Summer housing is located in Burntside Hall. A single story residence hall organized into pods. Each pod has six rooms and a shared community bathroom. There are several lounge areas and a shared community kitchenette. Cooking supplies (pots, pans, potholders, etc) are available to borrow at the Lake Superior Hall information desk. Burntside is not air-conditioned.
