Move-In Information

Most students will check-in at a campus parking lot. We ask that you arrive at your scheduled time.  

When you arrive at the designated parking lot, you’ll park your vehicle in the lot. There will be tents set up  - that is where you will go to check-in and get your keys. To avoid crowding, your family members should remain in the vehicle.

You will be checked in and receive your keys as well as other information about the other services available to you on move-in day, such as textbook reservation and parking permit pick-up. After you have been checked in, you will be directed to your building to unload your belongings. We will have carts available if you would like to use them.

Once your vehicle has been unloaded, we will ask that it be moved to a perimeter parking lot so that other students can utilize the space in the unloading zones.

Check your building specific page on our website to see if your building has elevator access. If you live in a building with stairs, we recommend bringing a dolly. 

Returning students can arrive on August 23-25, 2024 between the hours of 8am - 10pm daily.  

Returning students will complete their check-in and get their keys at the Housing Information Desk in Lake Superior Hall.

There is currently a major construction project on I-35 through western Duluth, reducing traffic speed in each direction. We encourage you to review the MNDOT website to be aware of any construction projects that may impact your journey to UMD.  

New students living on campus for the 2024 spring semester can being moving in at 8 am on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Students should pick up their keys from the Lake Superior Hall Information Desk.
